“Taking good pictures is easy. Making very good pictures is difficult. Making great pictures is almost impossible” – Constantine Manos.
I was born in London in 1970 and grew up with a bicultural and bilingual heritage influenced by the language and cultural differences in my family with roots in Ireland, Russia and Greece. My cross cultural education trained me to balance the perspective of both an insider and an outsider understanding the relativity of a viewpoint.
One of the attractions of photography for me, lies in the uniqueness of each fraction of a second that the shutter remains open for. In Henri Cartier-Bresson’s words it is ‘once, and forever’. It cannot be repeated. And somehow, sometimes, within these small fractions of time, there evolves a timelessness. This at least is the challenge. To see, to become aware, to witness.
I have had two group and one solo exhibition. I have been shortlisted 3 times for the Athens Photo Festival (2012, 2015, 2017) with the series: ‘The Zone’, ‘Boundaries’ and ‘No soy de aqui, ni soy de alla’.
I currently divide my time between Greece, and Ireland.
